WHO WE ARE

Our Roots

The Transitional Housing & Work Programs of Davidson County Inc. (THWP) is a non-profit organization that serves to provide two of the most basic community needs: Affordable housing & work.

As a “Self Sustaining” non-profit model THWP uses a very unique method of providing these two components: Affordable Housing & Work in the companies fundraising event space, www.venue109.com

Our event space it set up to provide work training, Jobs in catering, event planning, valet parking, and a host of other opportunities available as the business model scales in size.

THWP has been able to serve in the community since 2008, and has served over 400 individuals since being established.

"The mission of Thwp is to provide affordable housing and work to formerly incarcerated persons entering back into mainstream society.”

Our principal aim is to create and implement programs that provide vision and hope to help counter the social stigma so often associated with individuals living with mental health disorders. Overall, THWP programs serves and strengthens their residents by offering a sense of hope and belonging.

Ultimately, we promote the dignity and self-worth of all of our residents, and strive to give them an excellent quality of life, as defined by them, individually and as a group. We encourage resident decision-making through house meetings, access to all communal areas of the home and self-determination in activities, socialization, and meal preferences.

THWP is not just an affordable housing and care-giving facility, it is our clients’ home as well as their community.

PROGRAMS

A fresh start.

THWP serves approximately 40 clients annually. Duration of service averages 6 months to 1 year for our residents. Weekly activities and trainings are offered to develop resident skill sets and abilities. The intended impact is to strengthen the lives of our clients by offering three areas of service: housing, case management, and social networking.

We believe that clients who manage their medication, develop life skills, and maintain healthy relationships full of support, guidance, and encouragement develop into healthy and productive citizens.
